Summer work
Well done on finishing your first year of Biology, it has been challenging during lock down but you have worked hard and the majority of you have a lot to be proud of. The summer holidays are a great opportunity to catch up and, importantly, to have a rest so you can return on September refreshed and ready.
We will not be setting any new learning over summer, the work will be about preparing for September.
1. File organisation. Your Year 1 folder needs to be fully up to date, we have attached a document to help you check you have everything and to help you organise the work. You will need to bring your organised file to the exam lesson in September for us to check while you sit your September exam.
2. Exam technique practice. To help you prepare for the September exam. You have already completed AS paper 1 and 2 for 2014, you should also have marked these. Complete AS paper 1 and 2 for 2015, these can be found below. Complete these under exam conditions to help you practice timings in the exam. Mark and correct both papers to identify which booklets are your revision priorities.
3. Exam question practice. The AS paper are different to the A-level papers so you also need to complete A-level paper 1 2014 under exam conditions, mark and correct this paper. Also, it is important you carefully look at the difference in the style of questions.
4. Target setting. From the completed exams produce a revision list for the topics you need to go over. DO NOT just start with the first booklet, the booklet you are LEAST confident on should be on the top of your revision list.
Following the programme during Lockdown has also meant that we have been able to carve out some time from next years programme, this means we will be able to go back over the important points in the work we have done in lockdown, focusing on the key information for each booklet. We will NOT be reteaching these booklets so you will need to make sure still go through these before your September exam.
When we return in September you will sit an exam based on all the booklets we have completed, all the booklets on the file organisation document attached. This will be the focus of your predicted grade for university or apprenticeships so please make sure you give yourself the best chance and complete your revision thoroughly.
