Exam Papers and Past Paper Questions by topic
How to use exam questions effectively:
In the final exams you will sit three exam papers. Paper 1 assesses content from the topics taught in Year 1, whilst Paper 2 assesses content from the topics covered in Year 2. Paper 3 assesses topics from both years of the course, along with Practical techniques you have developed through your CPAC practical assessments. Paper 3 also requires you to write a synoptic essay (You be provided with a choice of two essay titles). Maths skills are an integral part of all three papers.
The AS papers only assess content from topics taught in Year 1 of the course.
You can view all of the Exam papers from the current specification, along with the mark schemes and examiners reports.
We have also organised exam questions into folders based upon the topic areas they assess. It is important to realise that in the final exams, questions will not only assess one topic area or skill. Each question will be synoptic and will test your ability to utilise your knowledge and understanding from a combination of topic and skill areas.
The most effective way to use these exam questions is as follows:
1. Answer the questions as practice in 1 colour (e.g.blue)
2. Go back through the question with your notes/revision resource in a second colour (e.g. green) looking for additional detail, specific terms etc
3. Mark your answers in a third colour (e.g. red) picking out any points that you missed and adding these to your notes/revision resources, this way you know your notes are exam ready.
- Even just reading through these questions and picking out the ones you are able to do is a skill, this is developing your ability to read the questions and link the exam question to what we teach you in class.
- Reading through the questions exposes you to how the examiners write the questions, how they are laid out and how many marks different things are worth.
