Careers, progression and destinations!

Your progression onto higher or further education, training, apprenticeships or work is a big decision, requiring research and thought.

Here are some links to several websites, including UCAS, NHS and The Society of Biology that you may find useful as a starting point.

We have also included a booklet produced by The Society of Biology providing information on choosing different types of degree, different types of Biology and possible career routes and qualifications required. It also includes some very good links to sites with information about further education courses, connexions etc.

Remember, your Biology tutor is also available for help and advice, or to point you in the right direction! Charlotte Ford is also available and you can book an appointment with her.

There is also a specific area in student services on Connect with advice about all aspects of progression and links to a lot of very good websites. Remember as well that there is a careers education and guidance program that runs through your personal tutor sessions with opportunities to attend events such as the Higher Education Regional Conference at Liverpool University.

At the back of W033 there is also a blue folder labelled "Careers" containing a variety of career/degree options using a biology A-level. Each career has a brief description, daily tasks, pay and promotion oppurtunities, entry requirements and skills you would need to apply for this degree/career.
